Sightseeing
- Good quality roads make it easy to get around, the area is surrounded by lush farmland, kiwi fruit orchards, blueberry farms and vineyards
- Just a short drive to Sandspit and a trip to Kawau Island to see the historic Mansion House Bay and Governor Grey's residence which is now fully restored
Golf
- Omaha Beach has an 18 hole golf course, and a top quality clubhouse. Take your own golf clubs (or hire) and play golf every day
- The course is one of New Zealand's most spectacular, playing through a bushland setting and then onto great harbour and ocean views

Restaurants and Cafes
- The area around Omaha is dotted with numerous restaurants and cafés, with scrumptious food and delicacies using the local produce. Some of these are attached to the wineries and art and craft shops.
- Visit the Leigh Sawmill Café , RD 6 at Omaha Flats, and numerous places at Matakana and Warkworth
Wineries
- The area around Omaha has numerous wineries, many of which welcome tasting at the cellar door
- The area is known for its excellent Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Gris, Merlot, and Chardonnay varieties.
- The winery Heron's Flight not only has some wonderful wines, but also has the Vineyard Cafe where you can relax with a glass of wine and share their stunning cuisine. Try their Sangiovese!
Gourmet and home grown trail
- One of the delights of the area is the local produce and organically grown foods
- For those who love to cook and entertain, you will be delighted with the variety and freshness
- The Matakana butcher has some of the best meat and his own brand of country style service.

Watersports
- Swimming - Omaha beach is a safe swimming beach, or try Pink Beach at the base of the Omaha Beach for a more secluded and romantic location
- The estuary offers even more protected waterways
- Scuba Diving - reefs, islands, crayfish, scallops
- Enjoy the world renown Goat Island Marine Reserve for some of the most spectacular diving and hand feed 25lb snapper
- Snorkeling - there are many safe snorkeling locations nearby, including the rock area on the south of the ocean beach
Fishing
- Beach casting is popular along the bay, as is jetty fishing within the estuary
- Offshore the fishing is popular at Ti Point and Leigh Reef
- Some of the best fishing is at Little Barrier, where snapper are often in abundance
Diving
- Omaha is a great base for a diving adventureLocally, the diving at Goat Island is a must, and the diving offshore at Little Barrier and Kawau Island is world class
- In season, there are plentiful scallop beds only 2 km off the ocean beach
- North of Omaha are the Poor Knights Islands, a marine reserve and diving mecca made famous by much of Jacques Cousteau's photography and television programmes
Surfing
- Omaha itself has good surfing year round, particularly near the groynes
- Additional surf beaches at Tawharanui and Parkari (south and north of Omaha) offer bigger surf
- The sea breezes at Omaha beach offer excellent wind surfing opportunities
Boating
- Omaha has a 4-lane concrete boat ramp, with a modern jetty. This makes for a safe and convenient launching location
- Additional launching locations can be found in Leigh and Sandspit
Tennis
- Omaha beach has several good quality tennis courts, located adjacent to the golf club
Wildlife/bird watching
- The entire area is rich in birdlife. Many sea birds feed and nest in the area with mangroves, estuaries, sandflats, rockeries. The tip of Omaha Beach is a bird sanctuary and home to a number of migratory species
